The Spelling Bee 2021 National Finals are scheduled for February 6 this year, regardless of the obvious challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement signed by Ms. Eugenia Tachie-Menson, CEO and founder of the Foundation for Young Educators, organizers of “The Spelling Bee” Ghana said that this year’s event would be held behind closed doors with only the spellings, parents and tutors, as well as sponsors, to ensure the safety of all attendees.

The statement extended its warmest thanks to all who made this year’s event a success, despite the lower number of participants due to the pandemic.

“The 2021 Spelling Bee National Finals are a celebration of all those who continue to support us throughout our journey to make experiential education an integral part of Ghana’s education system,” the statement said.

The statement said that the “The Spelling Bee” contest had proven to be more than just a spelling; however, it continued to impact the lives of students across the country and, for the first time this year, spellers from underserved parts of the country participated through the introduction of a virtual platform.

He said the competition would be televised live on Citi TV on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

“The 2021 winner has the opportunity to appear in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States of America to represent Ghana, the only African country that continues to participate in this International Spelling Bee.”

Other awards include; products and souvenirs from dear sponsors and partners.
