Members of the newly created House of Regional Chiefs of Oti expressed their gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the creation of the Region during an inaugural ceremony.

At the inauguration, the traditional authorities could not hide their enthusiasm and gratitude towards the president, the man who, they say, made their dreams come true.

“Thank you for giving us an identity with the creation of the new region,” the traditional authorities said during their speech.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Dr. Bawumia mentioned that the creation of the six new regions has once again demarcated the administrative boundaries of the country and will help accelerate development.

He added that the government of President Akufo-Addo is committed to bringing democracy to the people, and urged chiefs to be part of the process, using their revered institution.

“As the president said in Goaso during the inauguration of the Ahafo Chamber of Regional Chiefs, the government is determined to bring governance closer to the people and push the boundaries of democracy in our country.

“We are counting on you to help shape and integrate into these developments. In this way, Ghana’s unique contribution to the concept of governance that emanates from the integration of royal and aristocratic institutions into the fabric of a republican democratic framework will be enhanced and strengthened for the benefit of the people of Ghana. “

Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians to speak out and join the Government’s fight against the evils of society ranging from corruption, social and economic injustice, crime, and the threat of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

He urged the Chiefs to take responsibility, as they did in the days of our ancestors, to help preserve the lands, bodies of water and the environment.

Dr. Bawumia assured the heads of government of the willingness to build a new regional hospital as part of the Akufo-Addo government’s Agenda 111 health project.

The vice president took some time to update the bosses on the scope of development projects that the Akufo-Addo government has undertaken in the region so far.

“299 projects are being executed in the Region, 159 completed and 140 in the process of completion. These are education, health, roads, water and sanitation projects, etc.

“Along with flagship policies like free SHS, planting for food and jobs, a district a factory, a district a warehouse, a constituency an ambulance, NaBCO, Zongo Development Fund.”

According to Bawumia, the people of Oti have seen great development and improved livelihoods in less than four years under President Akufo-Addo, “therefore, we must protect all of these achievements as we seek to do more in the next four years. . years with their support ”.

The Oti Region was created from the Volta Region after a resounding yes in a referendum last year, and the process was completed with a historic inauguration of the Oti Region House of Chiefs by Vice President Bawumia on Tuesday 22 September in Dambai.
