Former Member of Parliament for Akwatia constituency Baba Jamal has revealed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is crafting a strategy to challenge the Techiman Sur parliamentary election results backed by strong evidence.
According to him, since the Election Commission has not produced a copy of the declaration form or summary sheet they used to declare Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the PNP as the winner of the polls to the party, the NDC cannot protest the results in Cut.
He said the NDC cannot go to court without proof of the Election Commission’s alleged flawed results.
Speaking about ‘Ade Akye Abia’ with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, he said that the returning officer did not present the necessary documents that were owed to them.
“They started with the collection and stopped when the confusion started, so we couldn’t sign the documents, but the officers who returned said that he approached us but we weren’t around. And we said okay, just give us a copy, we signed or not, but he refused. Do you think it was with good intention that they denied us the documents?
“You don’t go to court empty-handed. We go with the evidence, we do not have a summary sheet, declaration form and we do not know what happened. How do we protest in court about the results? Why don’t we have any evidence against the results? “he added.
Some NDC members stormed Techiman South last week to demand the pink sheets that were used to declare Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah of the NPP as an elected deputy in the Bono region.
The NDC is accusing the EC of manipulating the figures in favor of the ruling nuclear power plant.
In a video seen by GhanaWeb, the president, who was being asked for the documents, refused, stating that he did not have the documents with him.
Some of the NDC executives who broke into the Election Commission office included; Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Attorney Baba Jamal, Collins Dauda, and Attorney Victor Adawudu.
