President Akufo-Addo has announced the extension of tax incentives for frontline healthcare workers until the end of the year.
In his nineteenth national speech on the measures that the government has put in place to combat the virus, he said that the extension will cover the months of October, November and December.
“I am pleased to announce that the incentive package for healthcare workers has been extended until the end of the year. This means that all health workers will not pay income taxes during the months of October, November and December ”.
Additionally, they will continue to receive the 50% allowance of their base salary until the end of the year.
“Once again, all front-line health workers, as defined by the Ministry of Health, will continue to receive the additional allocation of fifty percent (50%) of their basic salary per month, during the months of October, November and December. ”.
He said the government is trying to mitigate the effects of the pandemic, by implementing a series of measures to protect Ghanaians and joint ventures.
“The government has extended the policy of free access to water for all households across the country until December, in addition to completely absorbing the electricity bills of one million active customers during the same period. The communication services tax was also reduced from nine to five percent, as of September 2020, ”he added.
