Frontline healthcare workers at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have threatened to embark on strike action starting Friday, March 12, 2021, over unpaid assignments.
Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technicians, orderlies and security workers say morale dropped as a result of that.
They have also expressed reservations about not knowing when they can also receive the COVID-19 vaccine as according to them, even non-healthcare workers from other areas are receiving the COVID-19 vaccine while they, the hospital’s front-line healthcare workers, have without access to the vaccine.
In a press release issued by the team, which also manages the COVID-19 treatment, isolation and retention center at TTH after a meeting with hospital management, they said they have also not received their 50 percent salary allowances. basic as promised by President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“No member of the COVID-19 management team at TTH has received any insurance packages promised to front-line healthcare workers when they became infected with COVID-19 in the line of duty,” the statement read.

“On this, we humbly write to inform you of our withdrawal from services in the fight against COVID-19,” he said.
“We appeal to the authorities to resolve the problems as soon as possible,” the statement added.
