Senior National Team Head Coach Charles Akonnor has stated that his team will not underestimate Sudan in the third qualifying game for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday afternoon at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, the coach said that “it’s a team that didn’t have the challenges that we had. Most of his players play in Sudan and have been together for quite some time. So you can’t underestimate them.
“But we are not really worried about that. It’s a fact that they would like to play defense and make things difficult for us. We are really very well prepared.
“Today we would go through some video sessions and let the guys know what to do and hopefully we would do well to get ahead.
Coach Akonnor said the players have shown positive signs in training and have given their best.
“I am very aware of what they want to do. I have spoken with almost everyone and I think they have given me the necessary confidence and I think that today they would stand out ”, he added.
The Black Stars will play Sudan this afternoon in an AFCON qualifier at Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
