An independent parliamentary candidate candidate from Tema East Mohammed Illiasu, along with his more than 500 supporters, has joined the New Patriotic Party.

Nene Sackitey, PNP Tema East constituency secretary and campaign coordinator for the 2020 elections, welcomed Mr. Illiasu and his supporters to the party and said the PNP viewed the move as positive.
He said they were happy that he had joined the PNP, and said they would use it to get the number of people on the ground, as they knew he had a large following in the ghettos and Zongos.
