There is a heavy deployment of security at the premises of Assembly Press, an Accra publishing house.

The company is responsible for the publication of the electoral results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).

In accordance with the Constitutional Instrument (CI 135), the Assembly Press on December 10 published the declaration of the 2020 presidential elections that has been signed by the president of the EC, Jean Mensa.

Subsequently, the publisher released the results of the parliamentary elections on December 22, 2020.

But on Thursday, armed police vehicles and water cannons were also spotted at the office along with joint security forces within the company building’s boundaries.

While it is unclear what triggered the unusual parade of police and military officers at the facility, sources say intelligence may have learned of an intentional protest by some groups regarding the outcome of the 2020 elections that have just ended.

Meanwhile, the NDC insists the election was rigged in favor of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
