The president of the Ovation Media Group, Chief Dele Momodu, has reacted to a news report on GhanaWeb attributed to the president of the Ghana Merchants Union Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, that he is the one who incites hatred against Ghanaians. In his response, Chief Momodu told The Boss newspapers in an exclusive interview:

“It was I who forcibly closed the shops of Nigerians in Ghana. Was I the one who sent agents to ruthlessly remove Nigerians from their tents? Was it I who encouraged Dr. Obeng to seek enforcement of a $ 1 million law / bill that goes against all global business conditions for small merchants? I beg Dr. Obeng to keep me out of his blackmail.

“Every Ghanaian knows that I am a pan-Africanist and a Nkrumaist fanatic. I have spent over two decades selflessly promoting Ghana’s best interests by appointing myself a true Ambassador of the country. I have attracted millions of dollars worth of businesses, businesses, tourists and investors to Ghana. I have promoted the good people of Ghana and the Republic of Ghana as peace-loving, kind and disciplined. You probably know Ghana more than any other country in the world. Even after losing a large part of my investments in Ghana, I never gave up on this beautiful country. I saw the loss as my own contribution to the growth of Africa.

“I am currently employing Ghanaians in Ghana and Nigeria and none of them can accuse me of mistreating them. God knows I love Ghana. But I am saddened by the relentless series of searing attacks against Nigerians in Ghana. I will not sit with my arms akimbo and watch a country that I have supported so much harassed and frustrated my compatriots, men and women, without reacting and offering my humble support. I know countless Ghanaians who live in Nigeria unhindered by deliberate and impossible obligations to thwart them outside the country.

“I was once a refugee in the UK. However, the British government took good care of me and my family. It is now obvious to me that none of the countries in Africa would have allowed Ovation International to start and prosper as it did in England. I am forever grateful to the British government and will never take their unusual support for granted. We should be concerned and ashamed that Africans are treated better in Europe and America than on their own continent. Therefore, we must strive to unite Africa as suggested by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

“I wish to ask Dr. Obeng and company to treat their fellow Africans with the respect they deserve as people in search of greener pastures. This is not too much to ask. “
