President Akufo-Addo has advised the electorate against apathy with just 10 hours of voting
Addressing the nation before the December 7 elections, the president quoted the Greek philosopher Plato as saying: “The punishment suffered by sages who refuse to participate in government is to live under the rule of worse men.”
In light of that, he urged each and every one to come out tomorrow and exercise their right to vote to elect a leader to occupy the Jubilee House for the next four years.
“Using your constitutional and God-given rights costs nothing, but staying home can come at a high price. So, I ask all eligible voters to appear in their number, cast their vote and, therefore, exercise their sovereign right to take office in the country, “he said.
President Akufo-Addo further assured the electorate that, as Commander-in-Chief of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, he is prepared to hold peaceful elections.
He stressed that the environment for the polls on Monday, December 7, will be free of violence and without intimidation while voters exercise their civic duties.
“The security services have assured me that they have made adequate preparations to protect the sanctity of the process.
“They have assured me of their determination to carry out their duties without fear or favor. The misconduct of any citizen, regardless of political color, will not be tolerated, and I am encouraged by the assurance of the Inspector General of Police, as well as the heads of the other security services, that they will be impartial. in their response to problems, ”he said.
