Stanbic Bank appoints Kwamina Asomaning as its new CEO

The Board of Directors of Stanbic Bank Ghana has appointed Mr. Kwamina Asomaning as successor to its outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Alhassan Andani.

Asomaning will replace Andani when he retires on November 30, 2020.

In a statement issued today, the bank said that Kwamina Asomaning has been a senior executive and director of corporate and investment banking in the Andani team for the past 10 years.

“Andani, as CEO since 2006, transformed Stanbic Bank from a fledgling Tier 3 bank into a highly reputable, profitable Tier 1 bank through vibrant, visionary and values-driven leadership,” the statement read. release.

“Kwamina came to Stanbic Bank from Goldman Sachs, where he was vice president of leveraged finance. Congratulations to Kwamina Asomaning and Alhassan Andani.”

Since joining the bank in 2010, Asomaning has participated in the supervision of the strategic and daily management of the bank’s Corporate Banking, Global Markets, Transactional Banking and Investment Banking business units. His competence includes client creation and strategy, asset allocation, and short and long-term financing.

Asomaning is a member of the board of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, Stanbic Investment Management Services Limited and Chirano Gold Mines Limited. He holds an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Ghana Business School. He is a Certified Public Accountant (ACCA).

Previously, he served as Vice President of Leveraged Finance at Goldman Sachs from 2006-2009 and as High Performance Credit Research Associate at JPMorgan Chase from 2004-2006.

Profile of Mr. Alhassan Andani

Mr. Alhassan Andani is the outgoing CEO of the Ghana Bankers Association (GAB) and the Managing Director of Stanbic Bank.

He holds a BA in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana and an MA in Banking and Finance from the Fin Africa Institute in Milan.

Mr. Andani is also an alumnus of the Oxford Strategic Leadership Program and holds an International Management Certificate from INSEAD, Chartered Bank.

He began his career at the then SSB Bank Limited in 1984, and rose through the ranks to become Regional Project Manager in the Upper Region in 1987.

He was also appointed by Gold Fields Limited as an independent non-executive director on their Board of Directors on August 1, 2016.
