The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will deploy an in-house developed Information Technology System to replace the existing system.
New software to be rolled out in the first half of 2021 will improve operational efficiency, provide superior service to members and customers, and eliminate the annual recurring expenses associated with the current system.
SSNIT CEO Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang said this at the presentation of a Toyota Hilux four-wheel drive double cab pickup truck to the National Pensioners Association (NPA).
The support is to address the Association’s transportation challenges in running its daily activities.
He said the new system would support the payment of contributions and benefits through the use of electronic payment platforms, including mobile money transactions.
“We will also launch a new website and the long-awaited SSNIT application will bring our services to our members and customers via mobile phone. The vision is to make the mobile phone your closest SSNIT branch, ”he added.
He said the Foundation will use digital platforms and media to intensify the education of the public during the COVID-19 period about its core business and its benefits.
In making the presentation, he assured the NPA of his regular support whenever possible, as part of his social responsibility to make life a little more comfortable for pensioners.
Stephen Boakye, Acting Secretary General of the NPA, who received the vehicle on behalf of the Association, appreciated the kind gesture and promised to use the vehicle for its intended purpose.
Mr. Boakye again thanked the SSNIT administration for their assistance and cooperation, especially under the current administration which had previously donated GH ¢ 800,000 to support the medical care of pensioners under the Pensioners Medical Plan (PMS).
