Timo Werner had a goal disallowed for offside in a cautious first half with only two attempts on goal.
Tottenham returned to the top of the Premier League despite being held back by Chelsea in a highly competitive but goalless stalemate in London.
The long-awaited match between two teams in excellent form failed to produce a goal as both sides canceled each other out at Stamford Bridge.
Edouard Mendy parried Serge Aurier’s fierce attack as Steven Bergwijn seized another Spurs opportunity over the bar.
Chelsea were looking to celebrate Roman Abramovich’s 1,000th game as the club’s owner with a victory over a Spurs team led by former boss José Mourinho.
The Blues struggled to carve out clear opportunities, though Hugo Lloris produced a great late save to deny Mason Mount.
Spurs, replaced at the top by Liverpool on Saturday, return to the top, tied at 21 points with the Reds but with a higher goal difference.
Chelsea is two points behind in third place.

Scorer Chelsea share the spoils
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have impressed in front of goal this season, but failed to unlock Tottenham’s strong defense, where Joe Rodon impressed in his first top flight start.
Lampard has added new dimensions in attack in 2020-21 in the form of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, with Ziyech and Werner starting in London.
The German forward thought he had given the hosts the lead with an excellent finish only to have it canceled by an offside flag, while Ziyech threw a rare opportunity over the crossbar.
In the final stages, Mount let fly from the distance, but Lloris cleverly dropped before the French goalkeeper denied the substitute and compatriot Olivier Giroud to ensure the Spurs scored a fourth clean sheet in a row.
Lampard and Chelsea are moving forward, the Blues undefeated in the Premier League since September 20.
Having qualified for the Champions League round of 16 with two matches to spare, they are in a healthy position in a tight group near the top of the Premier League after ending Tottenham’s five-win streak.
Spurs well placed after surviving a big test
Tottenham could have made a serious title statement by following up the win against Manchester City with another success at Stamford Bridge.
In the end, they settled for a point in a short game in the bow incident.
Mourinho clinched three Premier League titles in two stints at Stamford Bridge with Abramovich and enjoyed the opportunity to spoil the Chelsea owner’s historic occasion.
However, the Spurs failed to score in the top flight for the first time since the first weekend of the season as Harry Kane’s wait for his 250th career goal continues.
There were positives for Spurs despite the end of their four-game winning streak in the Premier League.
Welsh international Rodon positioned himself well alongside Eric Dier in the center of defense.
His mistake nearly let Giroud in for a late winner, but the 23-year-old did well to stop a Tammy Abraham header opportunity in the first half.
Barring Leicester beating Fulham by a six-goal margin on Monday, Spurs will head into December looking down on the rest.
Whats Next?
