Sporting Lisbon President Frederico Varandas claims that the value of Bruno Fernandes may have dropped to around £ 18 million, just three months after selling it to Man Utd for £ 58 million.
Sporting Lisbon President Frederico Varandas has stated that Bruno FernandesThe value could have plummeted to £ 18 million since its move to Manchester united.
Fernandes wrapped up a long transfer saga when he joined the Red Devils in a £ 57 million deal in January, and the midfielder has enjoyed an encouraging start to the club with three goals and four assists in nine outings in all competitions.
However, the coronavirus pandemic has seen player values slash and Varandas believes Sporting might have been able to get around € 20m (£ 17.7m) for Fernandes if they sold it now.
“The crisis caused by Covid-19 hurts the European soccer industry in general, but of all the countries, Portugal is the most affected, because 50% of the income comes from the sale of players,” said Varandas. RTP.
“Bruno Fernandes, for example? It was sold for 65 million euros in January. Today, how much would it be worth? Maybe 20 million euros? 30 million euros? No one knows.”
Fernandes won the Premier League Player of the Month award in February and has yet to prove defeat in a United jersey.
