South Dayi Inter-Party Dialogue Committee Reactivated Ahead of Dec. 7 Elections

The South Dayi District Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) was reactivated before the December elections to resolve conflicts and improve the peace prevailing in the area before, during and after the elections.

The South Dayi district director of the National Civic Education Commission (NCCE), Mr. Sena Amedenu Bosson, said the committee’s reactivation was necessary to allow them to develop a comprehensive action plan to ensure resolution of issues that arise during the elections.

He said the Committee would provide a platform for various stakeholders and political parties to get involved in maintaining peace and tranquility in the District, adding that it would also educate and monitor the activities of political parties and their supporters to ensure that their activities will not destabilize the country.

Mr. Bosson said the Committee would establish mechanisms to address the defacing of posters, the use of provocative and abusive language by political parties, vote buying and abuse of power.

He called on political actors to ensure that their activities do not plunge the country into chaos, but rather help maintain the peace of the country, as the country can only develop in an atmosphere of peace.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Harry Selormey, Kpeve District Commander, advised those who engaged in defacing posters of political opponents to desist from the act, as it was a criminal act punishable by law.

He said his team, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, will continue to provide maximum security to the people before, during and after elections, urging citizens to strive to comply with the rules and regulations governing elections.

The secretary of the voting station of the New Patriotic Party (PNP), Mrs. Irene Balley, who represented the party, said that the PNP was committed to the peace of the country and would not do anything to destabilize the country, and asked the members of the party to work hard to retain the party in power.

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Newton Agyemang, said that the party valued the peace of the country and is committed to maintaining it at all times, urging voters to vote en masse for the party to return to power to empower the socioeconomic development of the country.

The co-chair of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Mr. Kofi Nani Explo, said that peace is essential in any democratic government, adding that the party appreciates peace and therefore will not engage in any activity that has the tendency to put it. in danger.

The Chairman of the IPDC, the Rev. Nelson Nyavor Bonsi, said that the Committee was determined to put in place all the necessary mechanisms so that it can carry out its functions effectively.
