Morgan, 31, is the latest in a line of USWNT stars to join the FA Women’s Super League for the 2020-21 season. Manchester United announced the additions of Tobin Heath and Christen Press earlier this week, while Manchester City signed Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis. All five Americans played in the final of the 2019 World Cup.

Sources confirmed that Morgan’s contract runs through the last four months of the calendar year, but also contains an option to remain at Tottenham until the end of his season in May.
This will be Morgan’s second time playing professionally in Europe. She signed with Lyon under a similar agreement for the second half of her 2016-17 season. Lyon won the Champions League that season, although injuries limited Morgan’s time on the field.

As a designated player in the NWSL, her league salary is paid by US Soccer, and there is no transfer fee due to Pride or the United States federation.
Morgan will join her Orlando teammates Alanna Kennedy and Shelina Zadorsky with Tottenham, who rose to the English top division this season. As in Morgan’s situation, Canadian international Zadorsky is a designated player in the NWSL.
Morgan recently returned to Orlando to begin training with Pride ahead of NWSL’s truncated fall schedule. Orlando coach Marc Skinner said last week that he anticipated Morgan will join the team’s full training this week and play minutes for the team in its fall games. He has not played since giving birth to daughter Charlie in May.
