Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unconcerned with the mentality of Manchester United players and insists that the current shortcomings are due to a lack of sharpness, fitness and form.
United relied on a last-gasp Bruno Fernandes penalty to clinch a 3-2 win at Brighton yesterday, which followed last weekend’s surprising 3-1 home loss to Crystal Palace in the opener of the Premier League club of the new season.

The Norwegian is confident that the team will gradually improve as they seek to rediscover the post-blocking good form that qualifying for the Champions League brought.
“I don’t question the spirit and character of the guys because I see them every day, the spirit is there,” United manager Solskjaer said.
“The sharpness and the aptitude may not be there, and the form, but it will come.
“We have three or four weeks to catch up with some teams, and the more games we play, the more 90 minutes the guys have, we’ll be better and better and smarter and smarter.”
Despite the Gaviotas’ 18 attempts at goal, the manager also praised defender Victor Lindelof’s performance after his mistakes in the loss to Palace and is content with the defensive options at his disposal.

“Our form is not there, we are not sharp enough to go out to stop crossovers or continue races, so we are a little behind,” he said.
“They are more structural errors than individual errors, and I thought Victor did well.
“For me, we have enough good centers here at the moment.”
