Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær has described the timing of his 3-1 win over Everton as an “absolute joke”.
United came back from their embarrassing Champions League defeat against Istanbul Basaksehir in the early hours of Thursday, but had to start at Goodison Park at 12.30pm on Saturday.
Solskjaer blamed the quick turnaround for injuries to Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford, as even a Bruno Fernandes double to ease the pressure on him as the coach failed to lift his spirits.

“How can you expect players to perform to the best of their ability when he sends them out at 12.30? It’s an absolute joke, ”said Solskjær. “A month ago we tried to move this game. What’s the point of playing on a Saturday when we could play on Sunday and then there is an international break?
“I can’t say enough how tough these times are for everyone, not just footballers, and we want to see quality football. Our players were prepared to fail today with the schedule. I pressured my club to really fight the start time in this one to give us at least half a chance, but it was canceled. “
