The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sissala West constituency has indefinitely suspended seven of its members for alleged misconduct.

According to a letter spotted by Citi News, the suspensions are pending “the final result of the disciplinary proceedings initiated against him for misconduct as requested by interested Party members.”

The affected members are George Hika-Benson, Mohammed Zackaria Bakar, Majeed Limann, Hudu Mua, Musah Wibireh, Bahua Abudu and Halidu Yahaya.

They are alleged to have campaigned against the PNP and its parliamentary candidate for Sissala West, Naliwie Salifu, before the 2020 elections.

Mr. Hika-Benson was a minister under the Kufour administration, while Mr. Zakaria Bakor was fired as Executive Director of the Sissala West District on September 29, 2020.

The suspension is in line with article 3 (7, 1) of the PNP constitution which states that “a member may be suspended from party membership, or from holding office in the party, pending an investigation into his or her conduct by a Disciplinary Committee. ”
