Lawyer for Arrested Power FM presenter Victor Kojogah Adawudu Lawyer for Arrested Power FM Host Victor Kojogah Adawudu

The lawyer for the arrested Power FM presenter, Victor Kojogah Adawudu, says that insulting the president of the republic does not amount to a crime, but to morally inappropriate behavior.

According to the private lawyer, “although it is not acceptable as Ghanaians to insult the elderly in the society that has practically become a norm among young people, however, such behavior of some Ghanaians does not amount to a crime as stated by the CID” .

Oheneba Boamah, an Accra-based Power FM presenter, was arrested in Accra, warned for offensive conduct and publication of false news by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

The CID in a statement accused the station of insulting and threatening President Akufo-Addo.

According to Oheneba Boamah’s lawyer, the police could not tell them which of his statements were false and which of his conduct was offensive.

Meanwhile, host Oheneba Boamah is being investigated under Provision of Section 207 for offensive conduct and also Section 208 for posting fake news.

However, speaking on GBC radio, lawyer Kojogah Adawudu insisted that the charges brought against his client by the police are frivolous wondering when insulting the president would become a crime in the country.

“If someone makes outlandish accusations, does that amount to a false post? Or does that amount to offensive behavior causing panic? ” I ask

Lawyer Kojogah Adawudu went on to say that while he does not subscribe to the behavior of insulting the elderly in society, such immoral behavior has practically become part of Ghanaian politics, so it is not reasonable for his client to be arrested by the policeman.

“Even if you insult the president, that is not dignified and I am not saying that people should insult the president. But in our politics it has been something that we have seen several times, even when the young could speak in unrefined words to the elderly in politics. So since when did that become a crime, “Ibrahim Oppong Kwarteng, the host of the” Behind the News “program monitored by MyNewsGH.com, told Ibrahim.
