Sheridan Smith will appear in the first episode of a new emotional television series called Isolation Stories.

The 38-year-old actress is only a few weeks away from giving birth and will show her blooming tummy when she plays the character Mel, very pregnant.

The new ITV series begins May 4 and will document the experiences families face during the coronavirus blockade in 15-minute episodes throughout the week.

On Monday, Sheridan becomes Mel, a future single mother who isolates herself alone during the confinement.

In emotional scenes, the dejected character talks to his friends through a video call, but in fact he doesn’t mind being isolated.

During the compelling and tearful performance, the character struggles to reach term with the imminent birth of her baby, as well as to go through the pregnancy without her son’s married father.

In a snippet before Monday’s show, Sheridan appears in different rooms of her home while exchanging virtual moments with friends.

In one scene, Mel struggled to smile when he heard a friend say, “Melanie, let’s see the lump.”

Another scene later in the short episode showed the character sobbing on the phone while listening to the words, “You will be a lovely mother.”

According to Sheridan, she had taken the opportunity to participate in the miniseries because she felt it was important to reflect on what was happening.

“I am very pregnant and have been isolating myself at home,” she said.

In another heartbreaking scene, the character cries while on the phone.
