The long awaited Asaase Sound Clash took center stage on Saturday with the excitement of two of Ghana’s biggest artists, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
The concert, an initiative by Asaase Radio with the theme: “A Clash to Crush COVID” saw two of Ghana’s largest music exports join forces to help raise awareness about the deadly Coronavirus.
The lyrical battle that lasted close to two hours produced some exciting moments as both artists clashed with the goal of earning the right to brag as the best King Dancehall of Ghana.
In one of the best stage performances Ghana has witnessed in recent years, both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy dropped 40 consecutive hits in a relentless roller-coaster lyrical setting.
Although no winner was declared at the end, the message from both artists about the need to observe various protocols to safeguard lives during this pandemic was vital.
Stonebwoy at the end of the confrontation urged young people not to engage in deviant behavior that would ruin the peace of the country before the December 7 elections.
The night also saw some billboard battle performances from reigning Dancehall and Reggae artist of the year, Ras Kukuu, and rising artist Karmelyeon.
The self-acclaimed Dancehall Queen MzVee also gave an impressive performance in a night of classic Reggae and Dancehall moments that would go into the annals of Ghanaian music as the best staging.
Before the confrontation, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy made donations of some personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Korle-Gonno Polyclinic and the Ashaiman Community Hospital, respectively.
