Jules Kounde admits that a possible transfer to Manchester City would have been a good opportunity, but reaffirmed that he is happy to remain at Sevilla.
Before signing Ruben Dias from Benfica in a deal worth around £ 65 million, City were interested in the Sevilla star, with reports suggesting the Spanish team rejected £ 50 million for the 21-year-old.
Since then Kounde has claimed that we would have taken the opportunity to play in the English top flight, but he has no regrets about a failed move and is happy to remain in LaLiga with Sevilla.
“It’s part of my progression,” the France U21 defender told Canal Plus. ‘I give everything that is necessary and I work hard to make it happen (success).
“I was happy at the club and I still am. It would have been a good opportunity (to move to England), but I’m at Sevilla and I’m very happy. ”
Kounde only joined Sevilla in the summer of 2019 after arriving from Bordeaux for around £ 22 million.
Since then, he has broken into the first team and was influential in the Spanish team’s march to the top four last season.
It was also key in their successful career in the Europa League, which saw them win the competition for a record sixth time after beating Inter Milan in the final.
He has passed the international break with the France Under 21 squad, but is drawn to high-level recognition as his reputation continues to grow across Europe.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also taken an interest in the defender and could plan a play in January.
