Lucas Piazon attacks Chelsea’s loan policy
According to Maisfutebol (h / t The Daily Mail), Brazilian attacker Lucas Piazon has criticized the transfer policy implemented by Chelsea.
The 26-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since 2012. During these eight years, he has made a total of three appearances for Chelsea. They all came during their first season at the club.
Since then, Piazon has spent seven loaned spells. The player, for his part, is unhappy with how he was treated.
“At first, it felt really good. I went through the U23, I made it to the first team and, even in the first loans, I felt that Chelsea had expectations and interest in me ”.
While Piazon initially agreed to be loaned, he eventually became disillusioned.
Making three appearances for a Chelsea team at the age of 18 is no small feat. To do so in his first season outside of Brazil would have been a promising sign for Piazon.
He believed that the loan spells would give him more opportunities upon his return. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
“I believed that I could come back and have opportunities at any time.”
He believes that, more than his talent, it was the financial aspect that the club sought to exploit through the endless loan periods.
Rather than making him a first-team player, the constant loan spells and air of an audition he was offering for potential buyers.
“They send me on loan with the expectation of selling myself and making some money from me. I think that’s more or less what they think “
Loans are valid as long as they benefit all parties. Sending a player for his sake becomes stale after a moment. After all, all good things have to end at some point.
