Sebastien Haller scores the winner on his Ivory Coast debut, so maybe West Ham is the problem

West Ham United’s great debate over Sebastien Haller took another turn after the forward scored the winning goal on his debut for Côte d’Ivoire.

Haller divides opinions in West Ham.

Some label West Ham’s record 45 million pound signing as silly and simply not good enough to suit the Premier League.

Others point out that West Ham has mistreated him since he signed from Eintracht Frankfurt nearly 18 months ago.

Haller scores international goal with victory goal

Haller was quickly building a reputation as one of Europe’s most feared forwards before his big money moved to East London.

But he has yet to succeed him at West Ham with a record eight goals in 35 Premier League games.

However, perhaps the fan section that says West Ham and the club’s setup are the problem are right.

That’s after Haller scored his first senior international match with a goal following his exchange of allegiance from France.

Haller won a header to start the attack and then ran into the box before ducking down to head a cross from Max Gradel.

It turned out to be the winner as well, as Côte d’Ivoire held on to a 2-1 win in the African nations standings against their group leader Madagascar.

Maybe West Ham is the problem after all?

Haller looks happy in his new environment after being filmed all smiles doing a initiation dance in front of his teammates.

West Ham boss David Moyes has challenged Haller to show his best form to change his career at the Hammers.

The Scotsman, and all West Ham fans, hope they can rely on this when he returns after the international break.

Moyes and fans hope the forward’s confidence will boost for West Ham’s return

He’s a powerful presence, and at times, he doesn’t seem to use it to his full advantage.

But what Haller really needs is a pair of goals to kick off his West Ham career.

And he needs to find them soon before Moyes says time, possibly as early as January.
