The featherweight Samuel Takyi Ghana has appealed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to settle his outstanding allowances, after his participation in the Africa Olympic Qualifier in Senegal earlier this year.

Takyi, one of the two boxers who booked their tickets for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, told GNA Sports in an interview that authorities had still provided the Black Bombers with the allowances and allowances they were owed.

“We have been patient since February and before the coronavirus pandemic started. We went through a lot of difficulties in Senegal to ensure qualification for the event.

“We are in September and we continue waiting,” he lamented.

Takyi said it is time for him to come out and remind sports authorities, especially the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to do their duty.

Takyi also revealed that amateur boxers have not received their YEA Aid Package which was supposed to protect 1,000 national athletes, including players from 16 top division women’s clubs.

Takyi and Suleiman Tetteh have qualified to represent Ghana in the next Olympic Games scheduled for Japan.

Ghana was represented by only one boxer at the 2016 Games in Rio, Brazil.
