Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia is set to launch “Zongo Laafia”, a health and wellness outreach program in Yendi in the North Region.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 11 at the Zongo-Naa Mahama residence court.
It is part of the activities to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the death of the late former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, who served under the administration of the Kuffour-led nuclear power plant between 2001 and 2009.
Township residents will undergo free medical exams and supplies for various illnesses.
Ms Bawumia is also expected to address a durbar of chiefs and people from some communities in the Yendi constituency before the December elections.
According to the anniversary organizer, the Aliu Mahama Foundation announced in a statement that Information Minister Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah will deliver a keynote address at the Aliu Manama Memorial Conference at Dagbon State Upper Secondary School in Yendi on Saturday. November 14, 2020.
The Minister will also formally commission the new GBC Naya Radio under the New Yendi City (NYC) project.
Other events planned for the anniversary include the launch of the McDan Skill Development Center, the Nyani Witch camp donation, the soccer game, etc.
