Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah tested positive for coronavirus while on international service with Egypt.
The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Friday that Salah, 28, tested positive but does not show any symptoms.
He later added that Salah underwent a second test, which confirmed that he has Covid-19.
“Salah is in great spirits and does not show any symptoms of the virus,” the EFA said in a statement.
He said the other team members had tested negative.
Egypt host Togo in qualifying for the African Cup of Nations on Saturday, followed by the reverse match in Togo on Tuesday.
Salah will now isolate himself and could miss Liverpool’s next two games.
The Reds host Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday, November 22, followed by a Champions League tie against Atalanta at Anfield on Wednesday, November 25.
Salah has started all eight of Liverpool’s Premier League games this season, scoring eight goals.
