Mohamed Salah is not happy with Liverpool and the club is considering selling him, according to his former teammate in Egypt, Mohamed Aboutrika.
Aboutrika says one of the reasons Salah is angry is that he was not named captain against Midtjylland in the Champions League earlier this month, and Jurgen Klopp gave the bracelet to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
During a recent interview with the Spanish publication, AS Salah refused to rule out a move to Barcelona or Real Madrid, saying their future is in the hands of Liverpool.
Aboutrika, one of Egypt’s best players, revealed that he spoke to Salah about his situation.
Aboutrika told beIN Sports: “ I called Salah about his situation in Liverpool and he is upset, but that would never affect his performance on the field. ”
‘I know Salah is not happy in Liverpool, he told me the reasons why he is not happy but they are secret and I can’t talk about it in public.
“One of the reasons Salah was enraged was that he was not the captain against Midtjylland.”
“If Salah were a Real Madrid or Barcelona player, and played at the same level as Liverpool, he would have won the Ballon d’Or, and it is normal for a Spanish newspaper to ask Salah about Real Madrid and Barcelona.”
In my opinion Liverpool are considering selling Salah for financial reasons.
“I have no influence on Salah’s decisions, he is my friend and brother, and he is smart enough to know what is best for him.”
During the aforementioned interview with AS, Salah admitted that he was frustrated at not being named captain against Midtjylland.
He said: ‘Honestly, I was very disappointed. I was hoping to be the captain, but it’s a coach’s decision. I accept it.’
When asked about his stay at Liverpool, Salah said: “It is difficult, but right now I can say that everything is in the hands of the club.”
Later, the winger was questioned about the possibility of signing for Barcelona or Real Madrid, to which he replied: “We never know what will happen in the future.”
Salah has scored 13 goals in as many Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season, including a double in an emphatic 7-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Having played a prominent role in Liverpool’s victory in their first league title in 30 years last season, Salah is determined to win the league again this season, with Klopp’s side currently four points clear at the top of the table ahead of its closest rival Leicester.
Under Klopp’s leadership, Salah has been a frequent standout for Liverpool, with the winger scoring 110 goals in 173 appearances.
