Former Manchester City striker Robinho signed a five-month contract with former club Santos and will earn 229 euros (1,500 reais) a month, just above the country’s minimum wage.
The 36-year-old rejoined his childhood club for a third season as a free agent, having left Turkish team Istanbul Basaksehir shortly after helping them win their first Super Lig title last season.

“I will play for minimum wage, but the most important thing is to be here,” Robinho told the club’s official website on Friday.
“I’m fine physically and mentally, obviously there’s still a bit of a rhythm [missing], but with time we will evolve gradually. “

Robinho, who rose to fame after making his professional debut for Santos in 2002, went on to play for Real Madrid, City and AC Milan, among other clubs.
He won two national championships, two São Paulo tournaments and the Brazil Cup in his two previous spells with Santos.
“I have a lot of good memories here,” added Robinho. “The fans can be sure that I will do my best to help Santos FC on and off the pitch.
“Santos FC is going through a difficult economic time. So this is the time for those who can do something. I want to help the club that always gave me everything. Santos FC has already done a lot for me and this return is still little “. “
Santos is struggling financially and could soon face a FIFA transfer ban for unpaid debts.
Chilean club Huachipato is demanding that Santos complete the $ 3.4 million deal for the signing of Venezuelan striker Jefferson Soteldo, while Atlético Nacional de Colombia claims they still owe it $ 774,000 for the sale of defender Felipe Aguilar.
