The reason why Ousmane Dembele rejected a transfer to Manchester United on the day of the deadline has been revealed.
It seemed that Ousmane Dembele was destined for Manchester United when the clock struck the deadline. The Red Devils had been beaten 6-1 at home by José Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur the day before and needed to make a statement. Bringing the young Frenchman would have represented that.
The Frenchman has had a terrible time since he joined FC Barcelona in a big money move and right now he is well below Barça’s hierarchical order. As a result, a move to Manchester United would have provided him the opportunity to get his career back on track and reestablish himself as one of the best talents in the world.
But things did not go as expected as the winger ended up staying at the Spanish club. And it seems that it is because he plans to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the near future.
As reported by the Spanish media AS, Tot Costa de Catalunya Radio affirms that Dembélé has already held talks with Juventus about a move and has his heart set on joining the Turin team. And this seems to be the reason why he did not join Manchester United on the deadline day when he had the opportunity to do so.
Dembélé’s talent has never been in doubt, but in recent seasons he has been plagued by continuous injuries. And it could be the physical nature of the Premier League that was another reason for it not being launched.
It will be interesting to see how many chances he has with Ronald Koeman this season. If he ends up spending most of it in the bank, then the Frenchman might regret not seizing the opportunity to join the Red Devils.
