Residents raised funds to support accident victims

Residents of Akatsi South and its surrounding towns in the Volta region have raised thousands of Ghana Cedis through a local Kaleawo FM radio to help Ernest Adabla, a 15-year-old Kingship Knowledge Academy student who was hit by a vehicle Speeding in Akatsi District. Both victims were rushed to Akatsi Municipal Hospital before little Ernest was later transferred to Ho University Hospital for further medical care.

Doctors at the hospital indicated that little Ernest needed more than 18,000 Ghc for surgical operations on his legs.

The situation reportedly touched the hearts of some members of the general public after Kaleawo Fm asked the general public for financial assistance to help the accident victims.

Despite this, some volunteer donors helped defray the medical bills of the accident victims.

On Tuesday, March 30, the management of Kaleawo Fm along with some members of the Avenor Traditional Council and the Assemblyman from Tatorme Fiato, where the incident occurred, delivered a cash donation of Ghc 18000 to Ernest’s guardians at Ho y Ghc 800.00 to Kobby Tugbah at Akatsi Municipal Hospital as initial hospital bills.

The team, led by Mr. Raphael Bedzo, Manager of Kaleawo Fm and Mama Korkor Tsahaye IV, the queen mother of Gefia from the Avenor Traditional Area presented the amounts to the parents of the accident victims.

Edward Doe Adade, member of the Akatsi-Tatorme Fiato electoral area assembly, thanked all philanthropists and supporters for their kind gestures and encouraged communities to do more.

Leo Nelson Adzidoga, Akatsi South Municipal Executive Director (MCE) has since assured residents of immediate action.

The area’s municipal police commander, Superintendent Joseph Atsu Dzineku, also promised residents that his men will continue to control the speeding of vehicles on the road.

However, residents have warned to embark on another demonstration if the authorities do not comply with their demands.
