Reports: Real Madrid will choose between Mbappé and Haaland

The Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Real Madrid will find a player capable of scoring in the absence of Karim Benzema this summer.

The first choice is 22-year-old French striker Kylian Mbappé, and they are willing to sell Raphael Varane to raise funds for the player. If he decides to stay with PSG, they will bring Erling Haaland.

Mbappé is clearly tempted by a move to Real Madrid, but PSG is arguably a better long-term option given their state funding. Haaland would be an easier option, as Borussia Dortmund know they need to sell at least one star player this summer to balance their Coronavirus-affected books.

In short, Real Madrid need to sign a forward.

The Whites have played their last three games without Benzema and have scored three goals: one as a winger (Ferland Mendy), another as a defensive midfielder (Casemiro) and only one as an attacker (Vinicius).

In those three games, Zidane lined up three forwards and replaced them all at once in his quest to find someone with an eye for goal.

So who will it be?
