Whether in court or in the office, attorneys and judges should refrain from showing too much skin, Mr.
Anthony Forson, national president of the Ghana Bar Association, has said.
“Bare arms are generally frowned upon in the office and are never appropriate in court. Skirts or blouses should always be in the background so that the neckline is never revealed. “
Mr. Forson spoke at the GBA Webinar held at the Accra Court Complex on Monday under the theme: “Enhancing national cohesion: the essence of a free, fair and accountable electoral process.”
According to him, hair and makeup should also be conservative.
The GBA president said that “bare legs are never acceptable in court and neither are open shoes. Anything flashy, like big, garish earrings or sandals, is also inappropriate. “
He said that female lawyers should always wear dark suits with matching knee-length pants or skirts.
Mr. Forson noted that the legal profession remains one of the most conservative when it comes to work attire, adding that being “flashy was not allowed.”
He said that court attire for male attorneys in the absence of formal robes, should always consist of a dark-colored suit that is a tie and a properly buttoned shirt.
