Chelsea defender Reece James is a big doubt for Monday’s home game against West Ham due to a knee problem.
According to The Athletic, James may need surgery on his right knee, having played with the problem in recent games.
England international James has excelled at Chelsea this season, starting 11 of his 13 Premier League games so far.
If James can’t play West Ham, then manager Frank Lampard can turn to the experienced Cesar Azpilicueta to replace him.
James played Everton last weekend when Chelsea were beaten 1-0, but felt further discomfort during the loss to Wolves.
Lampard will certainly hope the 21-year-old is not sidelined for an extended period.
Chelsea are currently in eighth place in the Premier League and will be determined to get back on the winning track when they face West Ham.
James will also be determined to continue to impress as he looks to ensure he makes the England squad for Euro 2020.
