- Manchester United could be interested in Liverpool target Ozan Kabak, report says
- Kabak is expected to sell at a bargain price
- The Red Devils could still hunt down Jadon Sancho and Dayot Upamecano
Despite not being tied to major signings in this next transfer window, Manchester United could be considering a move for Ozan Kabak.
With only hours to go before the January transfer window opens, the Red Devils have yet to plan a raid for some of the biggest names in the market. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team has now set its sights on the Schalke Kabak center-back, Italian media Tutto Mercato reported.
Just over a week ago, Liverpool were among the favorites to sign Kabak, but the report said United are now ready to compete for his signature as well.
According to the report, the Red Devils are looking to inject youth into their central defensive options, and Kabak makes a strong case for being a credible candidate.
Schalke are reportedly dealing with financial problems at the moment and are ready to cash in on the 20-year-old to stay afloat. Given the situation, clubs interested in Kabak are expected to try to buy it at a bargain price in this month’s transfer window, the report added.
Outside of the English Premier League, Kabak is said to be also attracting the interest of AC Milan from Serie A.
Meanwhile, United is believed to be planning to go after a couple of the best former prospects who might be available for the right price, Goal reported.
While Kabak appears to be a good addition to center-back, United’s right wing remains one of the areas that need to be revamped. According to the Goal report, the versatile winger and Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is still on Solskjaer and Ed Woodward’s transfer wish list.
In addition to Sancho, the Red Devils are also believed to keep an eye on RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.
When it comes to starts, the biggest name tied to an outing remains United midfield star Paul Pogba. In recent weeks, Pogba’s transfer has been one of the most talked about stories in the Premier League, as the Frenchman set out to return to Juventus.
But according to Pogba, Solskjaer still wants him to stay and do his “best” on the field.
“Do your best,” the 27-year-old recently told Stadium Astro when asked what Solskjaer told him about his situation. “I do my best to be on the field, to play and do my best for the team.”
“I can play left, right, anywhere,” he continued. “I just give everything I have to help the team as much as I can.”
