Real Madrid not likely to sign in the winter transfer window – BRAND

Real Madrid are not likely to make any transfers in the January transfer window, according to BRANDJosé Félix Díaz.

The report cites that the club is finalizing the budget for 2020. It says that the reduction in both budget and income will reach 200 million euros for the year, which means that the Real will not be very active in the next window of transfer.

He says that the budget is being affected mainly by the lack of fans who can attend games, both at the end of last season and this current season. He says that Real will continue to play in Di Stefano as long as fans cannot attend.

Diaz also writes that actual players selling would probably not result in incoming transfers either. The club is reportedly satisfied with the talent they currently have and is entrusting them and Zidane with the pursuit of success.

The club already made little to no incoming moves in the window last summer, with the exception of calling Martin Ødegaard from his loan to Real Sociedad. They also sold and loaned several players.

This is not a surprise given how the pandemic has affected the transfer plans of many international clubs. It’s also not a surprise that the Real take a major financial hit given that they haven’t made any money from ticket sales for most of the year.

La Real still have depth to get through the season, although it is not ideal if they hope to repeat as champions. They have done well so far in La Liga given that they are currently second and only one point behind the Society.

They have also dealt with a host of injuries to start this season, losing their two right-backs Ødegaard and now getting Eden Hazard back for the first time.

If no moves are really made in the next window, it will be interesting to see what happens to the 2021 summer window. All the club’s eyes are on Kylian Mbappé potentially moving to Madrid next season. With the current budget issues being reported and fans are not yet in the stands, the question is whether the situation at the club will improve in that period.

We will have to wait and watch the situation progress this season and the annual budget is finally finalized. It will be an interesting few months, regardless of what happens in the winter transfer window for Real Madrid.
