Real Madrid is not running out of Modric: latest Ghana football news, live scores, results

Real Madrid were given a taste of what life is like without Luka Modric when the midfielder was left out of their 2-0 win over Granada on Wednesday night.

The injured Croatian watched from the stands at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium as Los Blancos struggled to keep up.

In the end, it was Marco Asensio who made the decisive contribution, unlocking Granada’s defense with a cross for Casemiro’s first goal.

Asensio was heavily involved for Real Madrid early in the second half, hitting the post himself before setting Fede Valverde up for a shot.

Eventually one of his centers was converted by Casemiro, and Asensio demonstrated the kind of quality we were so used to seeing in him before his injury.

Real Madrid is not himself when Modric is not playing. The veteran’s latest performances have proven his worth for the team and his absence was evident against Granada.

Zinedine Zidane’s team struggled to create chances regularly and, apart from Asensio, very little end product was shown.

There was a lot of concern for Rodrygo Goes, who was forced to leave the field injured in the first half.

The Brazilian appeared to be suffering from a muscle problem and was visibly upset while being treated on the field.

The extent of the injury is unknown so far, but even in a few weeks, Rodrygo will miss several key games this season.

It was a hectic start to the match in Valdebebas, where Antonio Puertas skipped a glorious opportunity to open the scoring in the first 30 seconds.

Raphael Varane released the ball inside his own field, with Roberto Soldado setting up his teammate, but Puertas was unable to capitalize.
