Real Madrid have been strongly linked to a move by David Alaba in recent weeks, but Pau Torres has also won a lot of fans at the club.
Pau is seen as an option for both the present and the future at Real Madrid, regardless of what happens with Sergio Ramos’ contract. The 23-year-old’s performances with Villarreal have been excellent, while he has formed a good partnership with Ramos at the heart of the Spanish defense.
Villarreal has placed a termination clause of 50 million euros in Pau’s contract, but this figure could be negotiated due to the good relationship between Los Blancos and the Yellow Submarine, as evidenced by the transfer of Takefusa Kubo to Villarreal on loan last summer.
However, Real Madrid is not the only club interested in the central defender. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have also shown a lot of interest, but Pau is more interested in heading to the Spanish capital.
There are many uncertainties in the defense of Real Madrid, but the club is clear that it is an area that must be promoted. Ramos, whose contract expires on June 30, has yet to reach a new agreement, but there is hope that he will stay at the club.
Eder Militao and Nacho Fernández have sat behind Ramos and Raphael Varane in recent years, but neither has pressured them enough for the manager to consider a permanent change.
As for Varane, although there are Premier League clubs that are still interested in the 2018 World Cup winner, he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.
