Read Noguchi’s response to claims of falsification of Covid-19 test results

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) at the University of Ghana is conducting research on social media claims of falsifying Covid19 test results at the NMIMR.

Below is his statement:

Good morning to all,

I wish to assure the staff that the allegation on social media about falsifying COVID-19 test results at the institute is being treated very seriously. The University has decided that a press release should be suspended and investigations conducted over the weekend and a report presented to the University Meeting for Senior Management on Monday morning, January 18, 2021.

Two aspects of the investigations are underway.

NMIMR internal investigations.

The external investigations will be conducted by Homeland Security, which is in discussion with the Coordinator of the National Network of COVID-19 Testing Laboratories.

Confirm the validity of the positive CIVID-19 test displayed.

Are there any negative COVID-19 test results for the same person?

Question the personnel who were on duty to obtain any relevant information.

Evaluate your existing COVID-19 test system from sampling to publication of results.

Identify any other issues related to COVID-19.

Submit report to Director before 8:00 am

To facilitate this process, all Virology staff and other COVID-19 test team staff must report to the institute before 8:30 am on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Meanwhile, the investigation team can call on any staff member for physical or virtual interactions at any time.
