RB Leipzig vs Freiburg predictions & TV info

[ad_1]

RB Leipizg welcomes SC Freiburg to Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon when the Bundesliga returns to action.

The match will be played behind closed doors as the hosts seek to boost their slim title hopes.

Julian Nagelsmann’s team sent a firm message in March when they expelled Tottenham Hotspur from the Champions League and will seek to bridge the gap with Borussia Dortmund and the leaders of Bayern Munich.

As for Freiburg, they sit within the top 10, but it will be a difficult task for them to leave Leipzig with all three points. However, forced rest means that fitness levels and lack of clarity in the game could come into play.

RB Leipzig vs Freiburg Preview

It is planned to be only the tenth meeting between RB Leipizg and SC Freiburg; Since its founding just over a decade ago, Die Roten Bullen has only played VfL Wolfsburg (12) more times in his young history.

The first game, which took place in Germany’s second division, saw Ralf Rangnick’s men, featuring Willi Orban, Lukas Klostermann, Marcel Sabitzer and Emil Forsberg, among others, with a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Sand.

Freiburg, on the way to promotion, won the second leg 2-1. The Baden-Württemberg-based club won the league five points ahead of RB Leipizig, who joined them in the Bundesliga, where they have regularly crossed paths since then.

In the big moment, however, it is “RasenBallsport” who came forward regarding face-to-face boasting rights. Freiburg’s victory earlier this season means they have now tasted three wins over the East German team, but have lost four in seven previous meetings.

Although three of them came in the first three Bundesliga games, each time Leipzig scored four goals for Freiburg, and their most recent victory came at the end of last season.

Freiburg has never completed a league double over RB Leipzig with this matchup as their second chance to do so after the 2018/19 season, which saw them win 3-0 at home before falling to a 2-1 loss.

RB Leipzig title awaits alive

Momentum was certainly on the side of RB Leipzig before the Bundesliga suspension, having done light work on the side of José Mourinho’s Spurs in the Champions League. Nagelsmann’s men brought down the finalists last season 3-0 at home on the way to a comfortable 4-0 aggregate victory.

However, this victory was followed by consecutive draws in the Bundesliga, which saw Leipzig drift five points adrift of the leaders and defending champion Bayern with Borussia Dortmund wedged between them.

Christian Streich, who has been in charge of Freiburg in all his previous meetings with RB Leipzig, currently sees his team sitting one point below European places. They previously picked up just one point from the nine available before recording a resounding 3-1 victory over Union Berlin.

His way on the road, it must be said, is not the most encouraging. Freiburg faces a difficult task as they head to a stadium where they have yet to win after a win in their last 10 league games away, during which they suffered five defeats.
