RB Leipzig vs Freiburg Preview
It is planned to be only the tenth meeting between RB Leipizg and SC Freiburg; Since its founding just over a decade ago, Die Roten Bullen has only played VfL Wolfsburg (12) more times in his young history.
The first game, which took place in Germany’s second division, saw Ralf Rangnick’s men, featuring Willi Orban, Lukas Klostermann, Marcel Sabitzer and Emil Forsberg, among others, with a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Sand.

RB Leipzig title awaits alive
Momentum was certainly on the side of RB Leipzig before the Bundesliga suspension, having done light work on the side of José Mourinho’s Spurs in the Champions League. Nagelsmann’s men brought down the finalists last season 3-0 at home on the way to a comfortable 4-0 aggregate victory.
However, this victory was followed by consecutive draws in the Bundesliga, which saw Leipzig drift five points adrift of the leaders and defending champion Bayern with Borussia Dortmund wedged between them.
Christian Streich, who has been in charge of Freiburg in all his previous meetings with RB Leipzig, currently sees his team sitting one point below European places. They previously picked up just one point from the nine available before recording a resounding 3-1 victory over Union Berlin.
His way on the road, it must be said, is not the most encouraging. Freiburg faces a difficult task as they head to a stadium where they have yet to win after a win in their last 10 league games away, during which they suffered five defeats.
