Akatsi South National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Anthony Owusu has said that the disappearance of former President Rawlings has caused many, including himself, some form of emotional instability.
He described the tragedy of the late president’s passing as devastating and unfortunate.
“This is devastating, we never anticipated it during these crucial moments of our political activities,” he said.
Owusu, popularly known as ‘Westfalia’, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the late leader’s legacy of love and compassion will live on.
“Former President Rawlings really expressed compassion and love for each other, he showed a lot of concern for the underprivileged,” he said.
Owusu further revealed that his personal relationship with the late former president was never failed, adding that he had learned a lot from him.
Referring to his personal experience with Rawlings, he said that the late leader helped many street children to continue their education in both Accra and the Volta region, respectively.
“Those in South Tongu, where his residence is also located, could attest to this fact,” he said.
The construction contractor further said that the legacy and principles laid out by Mr. Rawlings will remain and that “the NDC will continue to build on them for a better Ghana.
The GNA further observed that all political activities in the constituency are being suspended and flags are flying at half-mast.
