Former President Jerry John Rawlings has praised the UK-Ghana partnership for pooling funds and expertise to rebuild the Tema-Aflao road.

According to the former president, the effort by the two governments to set aside £ 80.3 million generated through the UK-Ghana partnership, towards the reconstruction of the Tema-Aflao road as part of the ECOWAS Coastal Highway is an initiative valuable with significant financial benefits. .

“The Tema-Aflao project will not only create direct job opportunities for Ghanaians, but will also provide them with experience and improve their socio-economic well-being.

“This project will improve Ghana’s trade within the subregion and provide a major improvement to the road system along that corridor,” said the former president.

The former president urged the Ministry of Roads and Highways to seize the opportunity to clear unapproved speed ramps that have become obstacles on the road and to implement modern road safety measures to help reduce the series of road crashes.

Flt Lt Rawlings further urged the government to also consider the Eastern Corridor Highway as a critical project that will properly integrate Ghana’s road network and socio-economic activities.
