Former Barcelona coach Quique Setien says he will file a lawsuit against the Catalan club for not contacting him to negotiate his compensation.
In fact, he went a step further and stated that Barça have not yet officially communicated to him that he has been fired after being replaced by Ronald Koeman in August.
“Barça has not compensated me, nor has they offered me anything,” Setién told Cadena COPE. “They haven’t even called me to tell me I’m fired.”
Setién, who was Barça’s coach in the second half of the 2019-2020 season, had one more year of contract with the club, but the board that Josep Maria Bartomeu presided over at that time decided to relieve him of his duties after the defeat in the quarterfinals. Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
Setién also clarified that the lawsuit against FC Barcelona “was filed more than a month ago, before the deadline expired.”
He appeals for breach of contract, since he does not agree with the amounts that Barcelona offered him at the time.
