Qatar Airways has announced plans to begin flights to Ghana in September.
It will operate four weekly flights to Accra, Ghana via Lagos from September 29, becoming the fourth new destination launched by the national airline of the State of Qatar since the start of the pandemic.
The Accra service will be operated by the airline’s next-generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner with 22 business class seats and 232 economy class seats.
Qatar Airways Group Executive Director His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “We are delighted to launch flights to the capital of Ghana, one of the fastest growing economies in the region famous for its highly sought after and local hospitality. by agricultural exports.
“We first announced our intention to launch flights to Accra in January 2020 and while the pandemic has slightly delayed these plans, it has not prevented us from meeting our commitment to passengers in Ghana and around the world.”
Mr. Al Baker thanked the Government of Ghana for their support in helping to launch these flights as it provides an opportunity to reunite Ghanaian families with their loved ones in the diaspora.
They hoped that the start of these flights would contribute to the growth and recovery of tourism and trade in the region.

In mid-October, Qatar Airways will operate 46 weekly flights to 14 destinations in Africa, including Addis Ababa, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Kigali, Kilimanjaro, Lagos, Mogadishu, Nairobi, Seychelles, Tunisia, Windhoek and Zanzibar.
In line with the airline’s expanding operations in Africa, passengers can expect a touch of African hospitality on board with the airline’s multicultural cabin crew, which includes more than 30 African nationalities.
To ensure that travelers can plan their trip with peace of mind, the airline has expanded its booking policies to offer even more options to its passengers.
The airline will allow unlimited date changes and passengers can change their destination as often as needed if it is within 5,000 miles of the original destination.
The airline will not charge any fare difference for trips made before December 31, 2020, after which the fare rules will apply.
All tickets reserved for travel until December 31, 2020 will be valid for two years from the date of issue.
The airline has also strictly implemented the most advanced safety and hygiene measures on board its aircraft and at Hamad International Airport.
Qatar Airways onboard security measures for passengers and cabin crew include the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the cabin crew and a complementary protection kit and disposable face masks for passengers.
