The vice president candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, has called on women to stand up and fight for each other, especially women from disadvantaged communities.

According to her, women play a vital role in our societies doing adequate work to support the nation, yet they are not recognized as partners in development.

Speaking during an engagement with Christan’s women leaders comprised of women from various churches and Christian women’s groups in Accra in a praise and worship, she said leaders are supposed to serve to ensure the right things are done.

“Christ did not come for popularity, the Christ we serve came to serve, to see that the right thing is done and for that I need your support.”

Professor Opoku Agyemang revealed that her tour across the country has further exposed her to the many disadvantaged communities and the challenges faced by women in the country and that must be championed by women.

She stressed that the lack of social services is a burden on women in all societies, contributing to the low performance of women, especially girls.

“But we are in a unique position to make a difference in that person’s life,” he added.

“It cannot always be about us, it must be about others and I need them all, I need their prayers, I need them all, they are ours, they are our own people and we must implement policies that reach everyone.

She reiterated that women demand equity and justice and that the system must guarantee.

Professor Naana assured women of NDC’s commitment to women’s development and urged them to support women’s development, especially in underprivileged communities.

For her part, Madam Grace Amenyo of the Methodist Women Fellowship in an interview praised Professor Naana for her commitment to the women’s scholarship, as it is the first time of its kind.

According to her, Professor Naana has a great vision for women and therefore Ghanaian women should support her to achieve a collective goal for women in the country.
