The leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the National Youth Committee (NJC) learned of the death of eight youth soccer players on Saturday 19 September 2020 in Offinso, near Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The GFA wishes to express our deepest condolences to the family of eight young footballers who died after the car in which they were traveling was submerged.

We are informed that the players and their handlers were heading to Afrancho after having conducted their District Colts soccer record drill in Offinso.

The GFA and NJC have sent a team to the Komfo Anokye University Hospital in Kumasi to visit the accident victims.

The contingent is made up Ashanti Regional Association President Osei Tutu Agyemang, Executive Council members Frederic Acheampong, Ms. Habiba Attah Forson and NJC Member President Kamarat will visit the injured and comfort grieving families.

The delegation will send a report to headquarters in Accra for further action.

We are deeply saddened by the development and wish express our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and a speedy recovery to the rest of the team who suffered various injuries during the accident.
