Potential Manchester United free agents could aim to save millions

It will take Manchester United some time to assemble a team capable of challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

The Reds don’t lack quality, just concentrating heavily on the same positions. For example, Ole Gunnar Solksjear may call on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood to lead his attack, with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba able to replace him.

However, the midfield center is not that strong, although there is no doubt that next summer United will look for another center back to complement Harry Maguire.

Upgrading a computer can be an expensive exercise, but there are bargains.

United showed that they are not afraid to enter the free agency market this summer, and Cavani joined on the closing day following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds could try to repeat the trick next summer, and there is potentially no shortage of quality on the market.

David Alaba

There has been a very public rift in the relationship between Bayern Munich and Alaba in recent weeks, with the Austrian upset over the club’s withdrawal from a new long-term contract.

This has opened the door for Alaba to leave the Allianz Arena next summer, and Chelsea and Manchester City are believed to be interested.

United are expected to be in the market for a new central defender at the end of the 2020/21 season, although Alaba is not the physical and dominant figure most envision alongside Harry Maguire.

However, the 28-year-old would transform the way the Reds play from behind and face high press.

Jerome boateng

As already mentioned, Manchester United is expected to be in the market for a new central defender next summer.

In terms of his pedigree, Jerome Boateng is one of the best center-backs in the European game right now, but he could be leaving Bayern Munich as a free agent next summer.

Boateng has been linked to a move to Old Trafford in the past. At 32, the German international is in the twilight of his career, but would still bring a physical presence to the Manchester United behind that is currently lacking.

Lionel messi

There’s no question who could be the biggest free agent on the market next summer. Messi was forced to stay at Barcelona for one more season after making clear his desire to leave the club for the summer, but there are no signs that the Argentine will put pen to paper in a new deal to extend his stay before the end of the campaign.

Manchester City is believed to be leading the search for Messi, but it would be foolish for United not to make at least one proposal to the 33-year-old.

The Reds are one of the few clubs in Europe that can afford Messi’s astronomical salaries.

Riqui Puig

Regarded as the best midfielder talent to come through La Masia in a long time, Puig has strangely fallen through the pecking order at Barcelona this season.

Ronald Koeman has spoken about how he recommended that the 21-year-old come out on loan despite the fact that Puig was one of Barca’s best players in the latter stages of last season.

Puig is out of contract next summer and could be lured to Old Trafford with the promise of regular first-team football.

The youngster plays similarly to Donny van de Beek, but Manchester United may not be able to pass up the opportunity to sign someone as talented as Puig for free.

Sergio Ramos

Even after all this time, Ramos is still Real Madrid’s most influential player.

The defender scored his 100th goal for the Spanish club in last week’s Champions League win over Inter, but is out of contract at the Santiago Bernabéu next summer.

His future at the club is far from certain, with a trade to Inter Miami in MLS reportedly on the cards.

It was not so long ago that Manchester United believed they had a real shot at signing Ramos. Now 34, he is in the twilight of his career, but the Spaniard could have a similar impact on United as Thiago Silva has had at Chelsea since signing as a free agent this summer.

United entered the international hiatus by winning what was arguably their biggest game of the season at Everton on Saturday.

The Reds under pressure came from behind to beat the Toffees thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ double and Edinson Cavani’s first goal for United.

United are on a two-week hiatus and many of their stars are headed for international service; We will keep track of how everyone is doing and preparations for their next Premier League match against West Brom.

Gio reyna

United publicly failed to sign one of Borussia Dortmund’s best young players in the latest transfer window, refusing to spend money to capture Jadon Sancho.

However, they could attract another of their prodigious talents next summer without even dealing directly with the Bundesliga club.

Reyna made her first-team breakthrough at the Westfalenstadion last season, but is out of contract next summer. The American has scored one goal and three assists in seven Bundesliga appearances this season and, although he is more of a central striker than Sancho, he would improve the United team.
