The national president of the opposition Democratic National Congress, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, warned that the NDC will resist any attempt to manipulate the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Therefore, Mr. Ampofo has commissioned community leaders to form community groups to monitor the vote and ensure that the will of the people is not subverted.
“The 2020 elections are communal work. Everyone must get involved. On Election Day, stop by the polling stations to monitor the counting process and we will see how the PNP will manipulate the elections. We will not allow you to manipulate this choice. Everyone will be there to closely monitor the exercise. We will be attentive that day. We will not be intimidated ”.
He added that “no community should allow rigging. The chiefs and the people should form a communal working group to protect the ballot, protect the integrity of the vote. They must not allow anyone to subvert the will of the people. If that is done, we know that John Mahama is in pole position to win the election. Like it or not, Jean Mensah would have an unpleasant duty to announce and declare the new president and the next president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama. “
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said this when addressing the chiefs and people of Asuokaw in the Upper West Akyem constituency on Friday, concluding the five-day tour of NDC vice president candidate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
She began the tour with a visit to the palace of Nana Afrakoma II, Queen Supreme Mother of Akwamuman, where she was greeted by a gigantic crowd. Professor Opoku-Agyemang also had a fruitful meeting with the queen mothers of the eastern region in Koforidua.
The eminent traditional rulers association expressed its desire to collaborate with the NDC vice president candidate to improve the well-being of women and children across the country, as expressed in the People’s Manifesto.
He assured them that policy proposals to ensure economic empowerment for all will be implemented by a new NDC government. Professor Opoku-Agyemang enjoyed an enthusiastic welcome in all the districts she visited in the region.
Prominent party members from the region who joined the campaign activities during the 5-day period included NDC President – Hon. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, fmr. UK High Commissioner – Victor Smith, fmr. Finance Minister – Seth Tekper, Hon. Silas Mensah – National Party Treasurer, NDC National Youth Organizer – George Opare Addo and Abigail Elorm – Women’s Deputy Organizer.
