Police Ready for Dec. 7 Polls – Accra Region Commander

The Accra region’s police commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwaku Boadu Peprah, says they are prepared to ensure maximum security before, during and after the December 7 elections.

According to him, Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh, ordered them to train special personnel on purpose for the election.

Speaking to Joy News after what they described as a confidence-building march on Monday to assure the public of their commitment to providing adequate measures to ensure peace ahead of the elections.

The Ghana Police Service marched through the main streets of Accra on Monday morning to display various of its assets such as trained dogs, armored vehicles, crime scenes, etc., which will be deployed to designated areas as part of their duty to guarantee non-violence on December 7.

He announced that a total of 1,968 people have been trained.

“The IGP James Oppong-Boanuh has also given his approval to train another 2,000 men in addition to the number. Regarding the elections, I am optimistic that we are very prepared, ”he said.

The Deputy Police Commissioner also asked other security institutions for help during the general elections.

“Our workforce of 35,000 to 40,000 is not enough to contain the 33,367 polling stations across the country,” he explained.

DCOP Kwaku Boadu Peprah further advised all police officers in the country to desist from participating in partisan activities in preparation for the task ahead.
